Against the dollar, the euro has recorded records for seven weeks. The European currency rose against the dollar to its highest level as traders weighed Washington's plans to tax capital gains.

Around 7:00 p.m., the euro rose 0.63% to 1.2091 dollars, the highest since March 3. The euro benefited from the growth of the private sector in the euro zone: the composite PMI index of the firm Markit rose to 53.7 points in April, after 53.2 in March.

George Saravelos, analyst at Deutsche Bank believes that the second quarter will be that of the European Union, just as the first quarter was that of the United States. The euro remains down 1.3% since the start of the year but has risen 3% since the start of the month.
