The good momentum of the cotton sector in Benin is confirmed more every year. Benin has produced more than 728,000 tons of cotton in West Africa since 2018

In the previous season, Benin produced 714,714 tons, an increase of about 2%. According to Mathieu Adjovi (president of the Benin Interprofessional Cotton Association), this improvement in performance, recorded in an apparently unfavorable context, is explained, among other things, by a framework and agricultural advice to producers and support for the governance of cotton producer organizations that are more suitable during the 2020-2021 cotton campaign.
Since 2018, therefore, Benin has taken the lead among the countries producing white gold in Africa, producing 678,000 tons compared to just over 200,000 tons in 2016.
