Cryptocurrencies have become increasingly popular thanks to the development of decentralized peer-to-peer exchanges. They constitute a major challenge for the financial system with which public authorities, central banks, regulatory authorities, credit institutions and citizens are confronted.
This situation leads national financial institutions to set up projects to create virtual currencies as a response.

Like India, many countries are working on the launch of public digital currencies. A public crypto currency, regulated by a Central Bank, backed by a currency, is of course safer than a private crypto currency. Moreover, the digitization of the Central Bank's currency will make it possible, in countries where cash is in decline, to guarantee citizens' access to Central Bank currency.
