The lower house of the US Congress is expected to adopt the latest version of the stimulus package, worth a total of 1.9 trillion dollars, on Tuesday or Wednesday. In the meantime, European equity markets are expected to change little at the beginning of the session. Investors are taking a break after Monday's sharp rise and waiting for the House of Representatives to review the stimulus package proposed by the President of the United States, Joe Biden, who must then ratify the text adopted by Congress. At 7:35 a.m., the CAC 40 futures contract gained 4 points, or 0.07%, according to data from the broker IG Markets. The DAX 30 contract lost 3 points, or 0.02%, and the FTSE 100 contract fell by 12 points, or 0.2%. In Asia, equity markets move in a fragmented order. The Hang Seng on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange gained 0.8% at the end of the session, while the Shanghai Composite Index fell by 1.1%. In Tokyo, the Nikkei index closed up 1%. The Japanese economy grew slightly below initial estimates during the October-December quarter due to lower-than-expected domestic demand.
