The World Bank Group and the Government of Burkina Faso on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, in Ouagadougou held a joint review of the performance of the portfolio of projects and programs financed by this institution.

The two parties discussed under the theme: “What tools and instruments to improve the performance of the World Bank's project and program portfolio in Burkina Faso in a difficult security and health context”.

For the Minister of Economy, Finance and Development, Lassané Kaboré, this review will make it possible to take stock of the difficulties in executing projects and programs, to examine the flexibilities offered by the parties in terms of procurement in an emergency context and to imagine effective monitoring and evaluation mechanisms in order to optimize the impact of the projects.
“Our ultimate objective is to find ways and means for the absorption of the resources that the World Bank puts at our disposal and which must be used for the benefit of the populations,” said Minister Kaboré

The resident representative of the World Bank in Burkina Faso, Maimouna Mbow Fam, believes that in view of the negative consequences of COVID-19 on health, the economy and food security, we must act quickly and well to respond both to the most urgent needs of the population and to create the conditions for an inclusive economic recovery for sustainable development.
