This year, Côte d'Ivoire aims to make a record production of white gold. The interprofessional agricultural organization of the cotton sector, “Intercoton”, envisages “a production of 500,000 tonnes”.
 
The head of communication of the interprofession, Laurent Fihox, quoted by ALERTE INFO announced that the production of this year will be more than that of last year. "We will slightly exceed 500,000 tons" compared to "last year, which is 490,423 tons," he said. And to add: “With covid-19, there will certainly be problems with the flow, with the loading of cotton to fulfill orders”.
Production for the 2019-2020 campaign was 490,423 tonnes compared to 468,983 tonnes for the 2018-2019 campaign, an increase of 4.5%. The 2020-2021 cotton campaign was launched in November 2020.
