Senegal has stagnated for 4 years

From 2016 to 202O, Senegal stopped progressing in its score. Transparency International's latest corruption report for 2020 indicates that the country maintains its score of 45 out of 100 and remains in the red zone.
Senegal's progression in the Corruption Perception Index stopped in 2016. Like all UEMOA and ECOWAS countries except Cape Verde, the country continues to stagnate in the red zone with a sub average of 45/100.
Transparency International experts argue that Senegal still needs to make a lot of effort to get out of the red zone. For this, it will be necessary to gather an average of 5O. According to the report, "the growing impunity, affirmed, desired and maintained by the Head of State, the main cause of the ineffectiveness of the fight against corruption in Senegal". It also notes the absence of strong measures against the spread of corruption at the central and territorial level, the absence of rendering of accounts for contracts awarded under the decree regime no. the crisis in the justice sector and the strong involvement of the executive in the judiciary.
Along with Senegal, other ECOWAS countries such as Benin (41 points), Burkina Faso (40 points), Gambia (37 points), Sierra Leone (33 points), Niger (32 points) , Mali (29 points), Liberia (28 points) and others are in the red zone. No member country of the community body obtained the average of 50/100.
