According to the World Bank, for developing countries, the growth of the broadband penetration rate by 10% has an impact of 1.38% on the gross domestic product. In Nigeria, the growth prospects of the Internet segment are attracting more and more investors.

The Nigerian telecom market has been enriched by a new Internet service provider. The EF Network company has received a license from the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC). It plans, through this resource, to make Internet services easily accessible to populations through more affordable costs and quality service.

EF Network Chairman Gideon Egbuchulam says the license will mark a "positive revolution in Nigeria's internet services". It will also improve "the efficiency and effectiveness of Efphonetaxi [phone anti-theft application launched three months ago, Editor's note] and other online services offered by the company".

With the granting of a license to EF Network, the telecoms regulator not only wishes to increase competition which will have an impact on lowering costs, but above all to facilitate access to the Internet for new areas of the country.

An action that marries the national digital economy strategy 2020-2023 "For a digital Nigeria" carried by the Ministry of Communications and the Digital Economy. In its third pillar “Solid Infrastructure”, it advocates investment to increase broadband penetration in the country to more than 50%.

Nigeria has made the development of its connectivity a priority. It will accelerate its digital transformation which will contribute to its economic growth. According to the World Bank, “the average increase in gross domestic product in developing countries was 1.38% for every 10% increase in broadband penetration rate”.
