The Bceao indicates in its latest publication on the economic situation that in the third quarter of 2020, economic activity should record a favorable dynamic, with the increase in the pace, in the economies of UEMOA. For her, activities in all sectors would increase, with the increase in domestic and external demand, as well as the resumption of certain activities (transport, tourism, etc.), previously limited due to the Covid pandemic. -19.

According to him, the measures taken by the monetary authorities of the Union, in particular the reduction of the key rates and the alignment of the supply of central money with the needs of the banks, in order to attenuate the economic impact of the pandemic on the banking system and the financing of economic activities, as well as the response and recovery plans of the States would reinforce the vigor of growth.

In the process, it notes that the upward trend in activity would however be weakened by the deterioration of the security, social and political climate, as well as the drop in private and public investment which continues to penalize the economic situation in terms of buildings and public works. .

To this end, according to estimates made by the Bceao on the basis of the results of the business tendency surveys and the latest available information, economic activity, in annual variation, should return to positive growth in the third quarter of 2020 (+0.6% ) and should consolidate in Q4 (+1.0%).
