The Financial Afrik Awards took place on December 17, 2020 in Dakar in hybrid mode (face-to-face and virtual). The event, which was also held in restricted mode due to the Covid-19 pandemic, was inaugurated by the Senegalese Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation, Amadou Hott, who immediately put the cursor on the challenges of the post-pandemic recovery of African economies.

In front of an audience of informed decision-makers and investors, the minister returned to the main lines of Senegal's recovery plan (the PAP 2), oriented towards public-private partnership.

Among the personalities present at the Financial Afrik Awards, there were in particular the economist and former Prime Minister of Benin, Lionel Zinsou, founding president of the SouthBridge Bank, and Mrs. Reckya Madougou, former Minister of Justice of Benin, international expert in financial inclusion policies and keynote speaker at the conference. Currently on a promotional tour for her new book, “Treat certainties, dialectic of inclusion and the minimum in Africa”, Madame Madougou framed the debate on her main theme “Covid-19, accelerator of the fourth industrial revolution”.

Also present at the conference were the Managing Director of the Arab Bank for the Development of Africa (BADEA), Senegal's partner, the Managing Director of the BRVM, Edoh Kossi Amenounvé, African Financier of the Year at the 2019 and, among others, the masters of financial rating in Africa, namely the Bloomfield Investment Corporation agency in the person of its President Stanislas Zeze, the Wara agency, the Pulsar fund, the Mediterranea Capital fund, a leading investor in promising companies and Finactu, supporting States and companies in the structuring of their projects.

Beyond the findings and forecasts of the near future, the Financial Afrik Awards recalled the need for the economic and financial integration of the continent, the harmonization of taxation on financial instruments dedicated to savings (case of UCITS) or, as Didier Acouetey, President of Afric Search, reminded us, of the need for African States to support the private sector to bring out national champions.
