Vincent Ehougban, coffee-cocoa coordinator at Anader. (DR) At the end of the last season in the cocoa sector, we note an increase in yield from 400 to 680 kg per hectare. This performance is partly due to the fact that 81% of producers have benefited from agricultural advice from the National Rural Development Support Agency (Anader), according to Vincent Ehougban, coffee-cocoa coordinator of the institution.

He was speaking at a press conference on November 16, at the Anader headquarters in Plateau. "We can consider this support very satisfactory because out of approximately 800,000 cocoa and coffee producers in Côte d'Ivoire, more than 650,000, or 81%, have been able to benefit from agricultural advice," he said.

According to the speaker, the management system is made up of 450 agricultural advisers from the coffee-cocoa sector (Cacc), 50 technicians specialized in perennial crops (Tscp), 6 regional coordinators (Crcc) as well as 3 national coordinators, i.e. 509 specialists deployed throughout the cocoa and coffee production area.

In addition, support in the fight against swollen shoot and the development of the national agroforestry policy will be strengthened through the School of Agricultural Entrepreneurship (Eea), already established, which aims to develop skills entrepreneurial skills of farmers, improve their productivity and facilitate their access to market opportunities.

To all this, we must add the modern young farmers project which consists of providing them with advisory support for the creation of cocoa and coffee plantations from the nursery to the plantation. Since 2013, the initiative has made it possible to follow 1,000 young people throughout the cocoa and coffee production area.
