Through the Autonomous Port of Lomé (PAL), Togo ranks as Cameroon's leading supplier. In 2019, 500,000 tons of fuels and lubricants left the port of Lomé for Cameroon.


Among the supplier countries of Cameroon, Togo is positioned at the very first place on the continent (ahead of Nigeria and 3rd in the world (behind China and France). This is what the Institute indicates. National Statistics of Cameroon in its latest report on foreign trade.In sum, 6.6% of the goods imported into Cameroon last year were delivered through the port of Lomé to the ports of Kribi and Douala.

"The characteristics of the port of Lomé give it a certain attractiveness, which means that economic operators have created platforms there intended to accommodate products of various origins redistributed in different countries", informs the report of the institute.

The same document indicated a trade deficit of 13.3% in 2019, or about 171 billion FCFA, compared to 2018 and an increase in export value of 13.3% compared to the previous year. With respective market shares in value of 18.4%, 12.2% and 11.0%, China, Italy and India are Cameroon's top three customers in 2019.

Successively since 2017, the Autonomous Port of Lomé has received the "Best Transshipment Port" award in West and Central Africa. The prestigious prize is awarded by the African Ports Awards Foundation.
