Vert+, Boutique Callivoire, Ivoire Processing Agricole, CAPRESSA and Société Ivoire Conseil Agricole are the 5 companies to benefit from the establishment of Agricultural Service Centers within the framework of the MOCA. A program aimed at Maximizing opportunities in cocoa-related activities and funded by the United States Department of Agriculture for an amount of 75 million FCFA, with grants ranging from 1,500,000 FCFA to 15 million FCFA of equipment , materials and technical assistance.
These Agricultural Service Centers will be installed in the regions of Haut Sassandra, Indenié Djuablin and Nawa, known to be major centers of cocoa production. Implemented by the American agricultural NGO Cultivating New Frontiers in Agriculture, CNFA, in collaboration with the company Callivoire, a subsidiary of United Phosphorus Limited, MOCA aims to support the efforts of the State of Côte d'Ivoire to improve the efficiency of the cocoa value chain.
Inputs and agricultural products will be made available to these Agricultural Service Centers, for this purpose, to 3,000 producers to help them produce quality cocoa and improve their income. These producers will also benefit from local advice oriented towards training on the recognition of pesticides, the means of protecting applicators to avoid poisoning, good agricultural practices and the recognition of approved phytosanitary products by better reading information on the stickers.
The 5 winning companies were selected following a pre-selection process, followed by an assessment visit to their respective regions of practice. Their proposals were evaluated by a grant review committee composed of members of MOCA and Callivoire with criteria such as impact on targeted beneficiaries, compliance with MOCA results, improved cocoa quality, job creation and financial viability.
The MOCA project is part of a vast support program for Côte d'Ivoire, amounting to 14.6 million dollars, financed by the American Department of Agriculture for the improvement of the competitiveness of the actors. of the cocoa sector.
