Faced with a difficult challenge, Africa needs to offer its best daughters and sons as a model. The digital campaign "Voi des resilientes" set up since August 3 by the UNESCO Regional Office in Dakar is part of this dynamic. This, through the promotion and recognition of the contribution of these role models to the dynamism of the cultural and creative sectors, whether it be cinema, music, fashion design, digital art, photography, painting or even exhibition curating. Thus, for two weeks, the portraits and journeys of 10 West African designers with diverse, inspiring and unique profiles will be highlighted. The two webinars organized on August 3 and 4, 2020 launched the campaign. As indicated on the Unesco Dakar website, the digital campaign will continue on the social networks, in particular Facebook and Instagram, where each of these creators will tell their story through short energetic, smart and inspiring portraits. It should be noted that these women “demonstrate their vision, their analysis, their strategy to make their way in the cultural and creative industries but also to face gender inequalities and, now, the Covid-19 pandemic, whose impact is great on the private and professional lives of women".
"La Voi des Résilientes" is an initiative that presents itself as a space for dialogue but also a showcase for the promotion and development of a new paradigm of thought on gender, which is more sensitive, adapted and inclusive. The portraits of these champions will highlight, among others, Esi Atiase (videographer and president of the video-mapping collective Zoom and of the Sanaa Faces project), Fatima Bocoum (exhibition curator and initiator of the online magazine OpenLetr), Rama Diaw (stylist and fashion designer, business manager, Maah Keita (first Senegalese bass player in the TaKeifa group and president of the Care for Albinism association)… “La Voi des Résilientes”, indicates the UNESCO Dakar Office , aligns with its initiative entitled "Covid-19 Laboratories" and the global Unesco #ResiliArt movement". Also, it is part of a sustainable vision of the Dakar regional office which, "for five years, has been carrying out pioneering actions in favor of the protection and promotion of women's rights in the creative sector in West Africa, in the spirit of the 2005 Convention and the Sustainable Development Goals". he, help to make visible the work of creative women, to promote equal representation in decision-making bodies, to promote equal access to financing, to technical resources and professional networks, but also to fight against prejudices that still confine women today to stereotyped statuses. This activity, continues this institution, is also made possible thanks to the project “Strengthening cultural policies through fundamental freedoms” financed by the Swedish Agency for Development and International Cooperation.
