“The Senegalese government has just satisfied, through this VAT exemption, an old complaint from players in the renewable energy sector,” the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy said in a press release, quoted by APS. These measures aim to substantially lower the acquisition costs of this equipment (18%) to facilitate access to energy, and particularly to electricity, in rural areas.
This measure is part of the policy of universal access to electricity by 2025, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and promotion of renewable energies. The list of materials intended for the production of exempted solar energy, relates inter alia, to the photovoltaic solar panel, the sensor or thermal solar panel and the solar inverter.
