(CercleFinance.com) - The rise of the Euro continues against the Dollar towards 1.1620 but it is clearly the greenback which is weakening against all currencies - and even more so against precious metals - with an average decline of -0.3%.

The $ lost 0.3% against the yen (very weak the day before) around 1.2740 and -0.45% against the Swiss franc at 0.9250 then 0.2% against the Canadian dollar (Loonie) at 1.339.

The Dollar may have suffered from a sharp deterioration - the first since the end of March - of +109,000 allocation requests, to 1.416 million, thwarting a consensus of 1.3 million after a revised figure of 1.307 million for the week ending July 11.

The number of unemployed people receiving benefits in the United States therefore remains above the level of 20 million.

Steven Mnuchin has just confirmed that the White House is considering a transformation of the generous compensation system consisting of $600/week, which will end at the end of July.

But the White House says it wants to continue to "give money" to the unemployed to avoid a consumer shock (and a negative psychological reaction 3 months before the elections) but they will certainly receive a much more modest monthly allocation... because at "the same time", the current system constitutes an incentive not to resume an activity.

The Conference Board's leading indicators rose +2% last month to 102 after rising +3.2% in May and falling -6.3% in April.
This day also ended with a new bullish surge in gold (+1.3%) which beat an annual record at $1,890 and is 1% closer to its absolute record of $1,910 at the end of August 2011.
