In her reaction, through a statement, Adesina expressed her joy at having worked with Blanke for the past three and a half years.
On what he will remember of the now former vice president of the bank, Adesina wrote that "she has shown real leadership skills and moved the needle on many fronts, especially in the areas of food security, financial empowerment of women and job creation”.
Looking forward to Blanke's career, the AfDB President wished him all the best and said to "look forward to continued partnerships and engagement with Jennifer."
In his resignation letter, Blanke wrote that "I thank President Akinwumi Adesina for his leadership, guidance and support which has undoubtedly motivated and helped my team and myself to play a key role in the transformation of the Bank. . I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to contribute to the Bank's program which aims to accelerate Africa 's social and economic transformation”.
Jennifer Blanke resigned from her post for officially “purely family reasons” in order to join her family in Switzerland.
This departure was confirmed by the bank and will take effect on July 4, 2020. This resignation comes a few months before the elections of the President of the AfDB . She leaves the Bank at a crucial time when a new independent investigation is authorized to investigate certain accusations raised by whistleblowers against the President of the AfDB .
