Dakar, Apr 22 (APS) - The cost of building new housing for residential use increased by 0.3% in the first quarter of 2020, indicates the National Agency for Statistics and Demography (ANSD).

The ANSD has just published a note on the economic situation relating to the construction cost index, which measures the evolution of the prices of new dwellings for residential use, at the national level.

She explains that the rise in the cost of housing construction in the first quarter is the result of changes in the cost of labour.

According to the ANSD, the fall in the prices of "construction materials" and the cost of "equipment rental" mitigated this upward trend.

“In annual variation, it increased by 0.5%”, she specifies.
