Togo's Minister of Economy and Finance, Sani Yaya, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Governors of the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID). The Togolese treasurer succeeds in this post to Jacob Jusu Saffa, Minister of Finance of Sierra Leone. After a brilliant career with the Ecobank and NSIA groups, not to mention his time at the BCEAO, Sani Yaya took charge of the Budget portfolio in 2015. The manager was subsequently appointed Minister of Economy and Finance in 2016. The financier has become, by force of circumstances, the major architect for the implementation of the National Development Plan (PND) 2018-2022. Created by the 15 member states of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the financial institution operates in several sectors, notably energy, water and the environment. The body's primary mission is to promote economic integration through the financing of programs and projects of its Member States, in coherence with those of the Community and/or NEPAD.
