This situation reflects the unfavorable orientation of the opinions of industrialists, construction contractors and
service providers. On an annual basis, the business climate fell by 7.2 points in January
2020.
In industry, debt collection difficulties (37%), supposedly unfair competition
(34%) and insufficient demand (34%) were the main constraints to
the activity.
Concerning the building and public works sub-sector, the constraints most cited by the
entrepreneurs surveyed are difficulties in collecting debts (86%), difficult access to land
(43%), supposedly unfair competition (43%) and insufficient demand (43%).
With regard to the services sub-sector, the respondents mainly mentioned the difficulties of
collection of debts (53%), competition deemed unfair (47%), insufficient demand (26%)
and taxation (21%) as the main obstacles to activity, in January 2020. In addition, the business climate
business deteriorated (-10.7 points) in the sub-sector, on a monthly basis.
This situation reflects the deterioration in the balances of opinion relating to the prices charged, orders,
business and order prospects.
With regard to trade, the difficulties in recovering debts (58%), the difficult supply of
goods (42%), difficult access to credit (33%), competition deemed unfair (33%) and insufficient
demand (33%) are the constraints to the activity most mentioned by the interviewees, in January 2020.
