A new general population and housing census will be held from April 20 to May 15 throughout the national territory. An agreement was signed, to this effect, between the Youth Employment Agency and the Permanent Technical Bureau of the Census, this Monday, February 24 in Abidjan.
This partnership aims to recruit and train 37,500 enumerators, aged 18 to 45, for data collection. An operation at the end of which, a certificate will be given to each of these young people. This initiative is partly funded to the tune of one billion FCFA by the Ministry for the Promotion of Youth and Youth Employment.
"I welcome this opportunity for training and work offered to these young people, especially since they will be transferred to the database of the National Institute of Statistics for all similar activities", rejoiced Minister in charge of Youth Employment.
"They will benefit from theoretical training on the challenges and methodological orientations of a census and practical training on computer-assisted data collection", specifies Nialé Kaba, Minister of Planning and Development.
This general population and housing census aims to collect demographic, social and economic data on the entire population, Ivorian or not, still living in Côte d'Ivoire. And fill in the workforce and structure of the latter, depending in particular on age, gender, etc.
"This operation, purely for statistical purposes, is important at a time when we are preparing to draw up the National Development Plan 2021-2025, to hold the maximum amount of information so as to offer the authorities a basis for development planning, the most complete as possible,” adds Nialé Kaba.
Within the framework of the cooperation agreement between the Minister for the Promotion of Youth and Youth Employment and the Minister for Planning and Development, the Permanent Technical Office of the Census will benefit from the network of 201 Youth Employment counters distributed in across the country to carry out the general population and housing census operation.
