settle at 35% in 2020, said Thursday Amadou Gon Coulibaly, the Ivorian Prime Minister, in charge of the Budget and
of the State portfolio, during a press conference at the Primature.
“The poverty rate in Côte d'Ivoire would be around 37.2% for the year 2018 against 51% in 2011 and
this despite the socio-economic consequences of the decade of political-military crisis,” Mr.
Gon Coulibaly in front of journalists.
According to our forecasts, he will say, “this rate should be 35% in 2020”. And this, thanks to the Social Program of the
government (PSGouv) which intensified in 2019 with an execution rate of 89.9% or 332 billion
invested on 369.5 billion of available resources.
Côte d'Ivoire has regained stability after the post-election violence of 2010-2011. The growth rate
of the country has been steadily maintained at 8% on average since 2012, with a rate of 7.5% in 2019, one more
raised in the world.
Mr. Gon Coulibaly maintained that “social progress for all populations is undeniable”. And
since 2015, these performances have made it possible to invert the curves of the unemployment rate and the poverty rate which
have continued to grow since 1985.
