Initiated by the Association of Geographers of Côte d'Ivoire, this meeting aims to raise awareness of the urgency of acting on climate in Africa and promote the establishment of Sentinel +, a group of experts for observation and climate monitoring on the continent.
"With the foreseeable depletion of natural resources, humanity is obliged to know its environment well to better plan its economic development. Moreover, the interaction between man and his environment being at the center of scientific concerns, a sudden disruption in the environmental system becomes a subject of interest for all" says Pauline Dibi, President of the Organizing Committee.
The 12th Geographic Days of Côte d'Ivoire are also a forum for reflection and experience sharing. 500 participants from Côte d'Ivoire and from about fifteen African, European and American countries are expected to attend.

Emphasis will be placed on the contribution of earth observation (remote sensing) in the fight against global warming. In addition to a visit to the coastline of Abidjan to Grand-Bassam to realize the advancing sea and the consequences of coastal erosion on the lives of surrounding populations.
