Costs of tax and customs exemptions granted by the Coast State
d'Ivoire fell from 243.4 billion FCFA at the end of September 2018 to 222.8 billion FCFA at the end
September 2019, a drop of 8.5%, the Ivorian government announced on Wednesday.
“At the end of September 2019, the costs of tax and customs exemptions amounted to 222.8 billion
FCFA against 243.4 billion FCFA recorded at the end of September 2018, a decrease of 8.5%. They
represent 8.6% of the gross revenue mobilized by the tax and customs administrations against 10% at
end of September 2018", indicated Sidi Tiémoko Touré, the spokesperson for the Ivorian government after a
Council of Ministers chaired by President Alassane Ouattara.
“The exemptions granted at the end of September 2019 under door taxation amount to 127.5
billion FCFA, i.e. 57.2% of tax expenditure and in the domestic regime at 95.3 billion FCFA representing
42.8%”, added Mr. Touré who is also the Minister of Communication and the Media.
“These exemptions were particularly important in terms of VAT, customs duties and taxes
on the profit, the cumulative amounts of which amount to 171.5 billion FCFA, i.e. 77% of the exemptions
global”, added the Minister of Communication and Media.
Continuing, he specified that the sectors of activity having benefited from exemptions are mainly
industry, construction, services and administration.
