The pound was losing 1.10% to $1.2887 at around 10:50 a.m. and 0.76% against the euro to 83.78 pence, also suffering from British Prime Minister Boris Johnson's difficulties mired in the party scandal during lockdown. Retail sales fell by 1.4% in March, marking an acceleration of the decline seen in February (-0.5%), although they remain slightly above their pre-pandemic level. In addition, the euro dropped 0.34% to $1.0797.
