The Governor of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO), Tiémoko Meyliet Koné has been appointed Vice President of Côte d'Ivoire. The announcement was made by President Ouattara in his speech at the Congress of the History of Côte d'Ivoire, held in Yamoussoukro.

Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, the architect of major reforms of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) financial market, is an orthodox supporter of the independence of the central bank with respect to the public policies of the States. The fine maneuverer of the major economic crises of recent years has seduced President Ouattara, who has decided to rely on his competence in the management of the State of Côte d'Ivoire. The BCEAO is thus separating from one of its greatest governors for the benefit of Côte d'Ivoire. By leaving the BCEAO, the governor leaves a well managed house and a banking market that has not experienced a major failure since the 90s although in a phase of redistribution of cards between French banks and African banks.
