In West Africa, 27 million people are acutely food insecure. This figure could rise to 38 million if nothing is done by next June.

For the past decade, far from abating, food crises have been increasing throughout the West African region, particularly in Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, Mali and Nigeria. Between 2015 and 2022, the number of people in need of emergency food assistance almost quadrupled, from 7 to 27 million.
