The National Center for Agronomic Research (Cnra), the Interprofessional Fund for Agricultural Research and Advice (Firca) and their main partners in the implementation of the Regional Program for Integrated Cotton Production in Africa (Pr-Pica), Côte d'Ivoire component. Ivoire (phase lll) met at the Hanniel hotel in Yamoussoukro to take stock of the activities of the 2021-2022 agricultural campaign.

The Pr-Pica is a regional platform that brings together all the players in the cotton sector from 8 African countries, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Senegal, Togo, Cameroon, Chad and Côte d'Ivoire, around important topic of integrated cotton production. The common efforts of these countries aim to deal with the poor agronomic and technological performance of cotton varieties, to fight against soil depletion, to curb the emergence and resurgence of cotton pests and finally to find appropriate solutions. the low level of adoption of innovations.

This meeting therefore made it possible to present the results of the research activities carried out during the 2021-2022 campaign. According to the report, a number of crosses have been initiated to improve the genetic characteristics of the varieties as well as the performance for the benefit of the producer parents. As for soil fertility, the achievements are still significant, because 3 fertilizer formulas have been developed.
