According to an EY barometer carried out with 90 Swiss banks, 55% of them believe that crypto-currencies will represent in ten years “an asset class, in the same way as stocks and bonds”. The latter plan to launch an investment offer in cryptocurrency investments over the next three years.

According to the report, clients are already in high demand for cryptocurrency investment opportunities. The reason for this high customer interest could be related to the low correlations between cryptocurrency investments and traditional investments like stocks, government bonds, currencies or gold. If 68% of private and foreign banks seem in a hurry to get into this niche, this figure drops to 41% for regional banks and 44% for cantonal ones. The document specifies that significant uncertainties remain, particularly in the field of regulation since the publication of the consultation document of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), in June 2021.
