Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) said in a statement on Tuesday that all officials of Liberia's agriculture ministry are under investigation for corruption. The institution describes the case as large-scale corruption "for issues of conflict of interest, financial irregularities and other improper awarding of agricultural contracts amounting to millions of dollars".

Indeed, the Commission had gathered enough information about the Department of Agriculture to warrant a full-scale investigation of all senior officials, including Minister Jeanine Milly Cooper, her deputies, deputy ministers and those with decision-making powers. LACC Executive Chairman Edwin Kla Martin says he is deeply concerned and baffled by the information he has gathered about "the reckless disregard of public financial management laws, public procurement laws and the code of conduct of the countries for public officials of the Ministry of Agriculture". The commission called on those under investigation to cooperate fully with their offices, saying it would not tolerate any delays or excuses during the investigation.
