The transfer took place following the case of embezzlement of an amount estimated at 4.6 billion CFA francs made public by a complaint from the judicial agent of the State. Two Treasury inspectors had been arrested in connection with this case by the Criminal Investigations Division (DIC), for misappropriation. The defendants are prosecuted for embezzlement of public funds, forgery and use of forgery but also money laundering.
