The outstanding balance of short-term bank loans in WAEMU was down at the end of September 2021. The drop was estimated at 8670 billion FCFA over the period analyzed.

       

The overall outstanding balance of short-term loans granted by banks present within the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) showed a decline at the end of September 2021, we learn from data published by the Bank. center of this sub-region (BCEAO). After having slightly crossed the threshold of 10,000 billion FCFA ($17.26 billion) at the end of June 2021, it was down again to 8,670 billion FCFA at the end of September.

Compared to September 2020, the drop is thus 15.3%, including a drop of 8% in the third quarter of 2021. We note an increase in outstanding debts of around 19% over the period analyzed. They went from 936.4 billion FCFA in September 2020 to just over 1000 billion FCFA over the same period in 2021.
