Togo, Niger and Guinea-Bissau share the same inflationary situation. After a month of respite, inflation started to rise again last October in these 3 WAEMU countries.

While inflation continues in Senegal, its upward trend observed since August, Togo, Niger and Guinea-Bissau recorded an increase according to data published by the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO). ). In Togo, monthly inflation rose from 5.7 to 5.9%. This, after experiencing a decline compared to the months of July and August (6.8%, a record level since at least 2013). In Guinea-Bissau, the figures show an increase from 4.3% in September to 5.4% in October. From 0.3% in April, inflation was, until then, on an upward slope before fading in September (4.9% in August). In Niger, it stood at 3.6% in October, against 3.4% in September and 3.7% over the two previous months. As regards Senegal, the indicator stood at 3.2% in October, against 3% and 2.6% respectively in September and August.

Monthly inflation fell in the other countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), like data from the region (3.8% in October against 4.3% in September). Thus, it fell from 4.7% to 2.9% in Mali, the largest drop observed, from 3 to 2.3% in Benin, from 4.4 to 3.9% in Burkina Faso and from 5.2 to 4.5% in Ivory Coast.
