The Orientation and Decision Committee of the Project for the Promotion of Containerization in West Africa (PPCAO) met this Wednesday, December 15, 2021 in the Conference Room of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin ( CCI Benin). At the end of the work, the number 1 of the Benin CCI was acclaimed as chairman of the committee.

The Vice-President of the Regional Consular Chamber of the West African Economic Monetary Union (CCR UEMOA) for Benin was chosen to lead the orientation committee of the PPCAO. The other members of the Bureau of the Orientation and Decision Committee are: Vice-president, Youssouf Bathily (President of the Mali CCI), Rapporteur, Emmanuel Yoda (President of the Technical Committee). Supported by the CCR UEMOA, this meeting made it possible to improve the competitiveness of containerized transport in the UEMOA space by involving the "National Guarantees" and the CCR-UEMOA, sealed by a memorandum of understanding.

The meeting adopted the carrying out of an additional study to specify the strategic approach, the operationalization methods and the associated draft budget of the alternative solution to the Deposit; the inclusion of Ghana in the project to broaden the scope of action; taking into account Regulation No. 14/2005/CM/UEMOA on the harmonization of standards and procedures for controlling the size, weight and axle load of heavy goods transport vehicles in force, likely to be a brake on the activities of economic operators.
