Yamoussoukro and Pretoria are strengthening their cooperation in defense matters. Nine bilateral agreements have been signed between Côte d'Ivoire and South Africa, including one relating to cooperation in the field of defence.

President Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Co ̂ te d'Ivoire welcomed his counterpart Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa, President of South Africa, on December 1, as part of a 72-hour State Visit. On this occasion, the two Governments signed nine bilateral agreements. The agreement, which targets the defense sector, provides, among other things, for the training of military personnel through the exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as the development of the sharing of military information on strategic subjects. In the agricultural field, the agreement will make it possible to strengthen this sector by consolidating agricultural training, and by promoting the exchange of expertise on the production and processing of key products of Ivorian production, in particular coffee, rubber, cocoa, rice, palm oil, and peanuts. In addition, the collaboration between the two countries will allow the development and implementation of policies and strategies to support sustainable production methods.
