The West African Development Bank (BOAD) authorized this Tuesday, November 23, 2021 new commitments for a total amount of 26 billion FCFA. The Board of Directors of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) met by videoconference for its 126th ordinary session, under the chairmanship of Serge EKUE , Chairman of the Board of Directors, Chairman of BOAD.

On the occasion, the directors examined and approved two (02) financing proposals for a total amount of 26 billion FCFA. In favor of Benin, the Council committed a total amount of 10 billion FCFA. This financing will devote the servicing of the Ouédo site, as part of the construction of 10,849 social and economic housing units in the Municipality of Abomey-Calavi. The approved loans also concern the partial financing of the construction of the Ouagadougou-Donsin International Airport in Burkina Faso. This infrastructure financed to the tune of 16 billion FCFA will, according to the institution, contribute to the creation of wealth; job creation and capacity building; the increase in air traffic at the airport and the improvement of the social living environment through accompanying measures.

The Board also approved the provision of a fifth line of credit from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to BOAD. This competition is intended to support private sector companies in the WAEMU zone in all areas of activity, with an emphasis on projects concerning the agricultural sector, the advancement of women and the improvement of the living conditions of the populations. These new approvals bring to CFAF 374.7 billion the amount of commitments for the year 2021 to date, and CFAF 6,618.7 billion, the total commitments (all operations combined) of BOAD since the start of its operational activities in 1976.
