Regarding the exchange rate, the variation compared to the closing in New York indicates that the EUR / USD is displayed at 1.1274 (-0.06%), the EUR / JPY at 128.70 (+0.04%) and USD/JPY at 114.16 (+0.11%).
European equity markets are expected to open slightly higher on Monday, recovering from their decline on Friday. Oil futures continue to slide on Monday, after hitting their lowest level in seven weeks on Friday, on rising demand concerns, spurred by the resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic and the imposition new health restrictions in Europe.
The demand for oil is particularly sensitive to the confinement of populations because the transport of people represents two thirds of the world's consumption of black gold, underlines the bank CBA. At 7:15 a.m., the January contract for Brent North Sea crude was down 41 cents to $78.48 a barrel. The same-maturity contract on light sweet crude oil (WTI) listed on the Nymex fell 25 cents to 75.69 dollars a barrel.
