This workshop, which will last five days, should lead to the validation of tax transition tools in West Africa. The workshop was opened by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Alban Bessan representing the Minister.
One of the priorities of the ECOWAS Member States, of which the States of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) are members, is to succeed in broadening the tax base in order to increase their capacity to mobilize domestic revenue. To do this, the member states of these two organizations intend to put in place the necessary tools. This is indeed a process started a few years ago thanks to the support of the European Union.
Three main tools will be examined at this workshop, specified the representative of the EU Delegation in Benin. These are the PATF practical guides, methodological guides for the evaluation of tax expenditures, reports on indicators and the tax database in West Africa.
