Accused of having favored China in the Doing Business ranking, Kristalina Georgieva, the boss of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) receives the support of 13 countries including Benin.

In a statement released yesterday Tuesday, October 05, 2021, 13 African ministers of economy and finance, including Beninese Romuald Wadagni, support Kristalina Georgieva. The boss of the IMF would have used her influence on her teams when she was Managing Director of the World Bank (2017-2019), so that they change the methods of calculating the data used for the report which establishes a ranking of countries in depending on their business environment. “Neither in this case, neither before nor after, did I put pressure on the teams to manipulate the data” she had declared, thus claiming her innocence. Besides Benin, Botswana, Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Djibouti, Guinea Bissau, Nigeria, Senegal, Mauritania, Sudan, Togo, Somalia, are the other 12 countries supporting Kristalina Georgieva. These countries call for an in-depth investigation into the matter.
