This Wednesday, the euro was again at its lowest in 14 months against the dollar. In a market expecting numbers strong enough to allow for a tightening of US monetary policy, the euro retreated once again.

The euro retreated on Wednesday to a new low since July 2020 against the dollar before a first indicator on US employment for September. Around 9 a.m. GMT (11 a.m. in Paris), the euro lost 0.38% to 1.1551 dollars, falling to its lowest level since July 23. While the European single currency is struggling against the greenback since the US Central Bank (Fed) said in September that it was preparing to reduce its asset purchase program. The euro had started a rebound at the start of the week. The British pound also fell against the dollar (-0.53% to 1.3557 dollars for one pound) and to a lesser extent against the euro (-0.15% to 85.22 pence for one euro).
