The budgetary unknowns weigh down the dollar which is losing ground, modestly against the Euro.

Orders to American industry rose by +1.2% in August, the fifteenth month of increase out of 16, driven by an increase in purchases of machine tools and electronic equipment and components. The greenback's decline (the Dollar Index fell -0.3% to 93.75) certainly has little to do with today's figures. The July figure has been revised upwards to show an increase of 0.7% instead of the +0.4% initially announced. The Dollar is losing ground, modestly against the Euro (-0.2% to 1.162), against the Yen (-0.15%), and more significantly against the Pound (-0.55% to 1.3620 ) or against the Swiss Franc (-0.7% to 0.9240).
