The Bank of Central African States reveals that the prices of agricultural products exported by the six CEMAC countries (Cameroon, Congo, Gabon, Chad, CAR and Equatorial Guinea) increased by 1.8% in the 2nd quarter of 2021. This increase slowed down from the 2.2% increase recorded in the first quarter of the current year.

The prices of agricultural products exported by the CEMAC countries were boosted by coffee, sugar, palm oil and cotton in the 2nd quarter of 2021. “Coffee prices increased by 10.0 % at 2.89 $/kg in the 2nd quarter of 2021, compared to 2.62 $/kg in the previous quarter , taking into account the drop in production induced by the bad weather conditions in Brazil (1st world producer) and the social protest movements in Colombia (3rd largest producer in the world) , ” explains the Beac. This improvement in prices, synonymous with increased export earnings, is comfortable for the countries of the zone.
