On the sidelines of the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) underway in New York, United States, Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod renewed his commitment to address the root causes of piracy. He said Denmark wants to cooperate with all countries in the Gulf of Guinea.

While the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has declared the Gulf of Guinea to be the most dangerous maritime area in the world, Denmark decides to engage in the fight against piracy. The Nigerian government and its Danish counterpart have declared themselves ready to collaborate. The renewed effort by the two governments took place during a bilateral meeting between Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeama and Danish Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod on the sidelines of the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA ) underway in New York, United States. All these initiatives militate for the creation of a favorable environment to attract investors to the area.
