The second congress of lawyers of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA) opened on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in Ouagadougou, under the theme "Justice and corruption". This meeting brings together for 72 hours, the lawyers of the bars of the eight member countries of the Union.

Placed under the auspices of the President of Faso, current President of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of WAEMU, the congress will be an opportunity for participants to discuss topics of common interest. This year, the debates focus on the theme “Justice and corruption”. For the chairman of the Burkina Bar Association, Me Paulin Salembéré, who is also chairman of the congress organizing committee, the mere mention of corruption makes people turn their gaze, rightly or wrongly, to justice, "no not necessarily that it is the environment where it prospers the most, but given the role it plays in tracking down actors of corruption and the place it occupies in improving democratic governance”. Corruption is a challenge for the business environment within the WAEMU space. A plague that feeds "mafia and terrorist networks".
