The sixth ministerial meeting on security in the UEMOA space resulted in several reforms and a roadmap for the cooperation framework agreement.

The draft road map takes into account the areas of cooperation identified by the Framework Cooperation Agreement, namely, “any security threats that may compromise institutional stability and social peace”. The roadmap is structured around several objectives, namely: strengthening information and intelligence sharing as well as the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime in cross-border areas; involving the population in the prevention and management of crises and conflicts; and developing border areas of peace and security. During the meeting, the ministers undertook to strengthen their cooperation through the exchange of information and the coordination of actions to combat terrorism and transnational organized crime. The ministers did not fail to condemn terrorist attacks in the UEMOA region, particularly in Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Mali and Niger. They express their solidarity with these countries.
