Microfinance Academy last week organized a training course on agricultural financing for loan officers (Fofinaac). The initiative is part of a German cooperation program, represented by Giz, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (Minader).

The objective of the training is to provide tools to banks and microfinance institutions (Emf) allowing them to develop financial products adapted to agro-pastoral activities. Thus, around sixty financial institutions from the CEMAC zone (Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa) took part in this training seminar aimed at improving their understanding of the agricultural sector and their skills in agricultural financing. The exchanges were among other things furnished by the determinants of agricultural production in Cameroon; analysis of agricultural value chains; their funding; the credit cycle, the role of agricultural credit officers and the risks, the financial analysis of agricultural and agropastoral activities; diagnostic tools for the agricultural activities to be financed, etc.
