The World Health Organization (WHO) fears that the Covid-19 pandemic will cause 236,000 additional deaths in Europe by December 1, expressing concern on Monday at the stagnant pace of vaccinations on the continent. “Last week, the number of deaths in the region increased by 11%, with a reliable projection predicting 236,000 deaths in Europe by 1 December”, adding to the 1.3 million deaths already caused by the pandemic on the Old Continent, said the director of WHO Europe, Hans Kluge, at a press conference. Worldwide, more than 4.5 million deaths due to Covid-19 have been officially recorded since the start of the pandemic, according to an AFP count from official sources
.2022 World Qualifiers - Deschamps returns to his Blues and Mbappé
Two months after the failure of the Euro, Didier Deschamps reunited with his Blues on Monday in Clairefontaine to continue qualifying at the 2022 World Cup, with Kylian Mbappé despite rumours of a transfer, but now without Dayot Upamecano, whose injury package was announced in the evening. The young French striker, like his 22 teammates summoned for the start of the school year, arrived at the Les Bleus training center at midday. But the first public appearance of Le Bondynois will await: the first training, at the end of the day on Monday, was reserved for the freshest men. Only 11 internationals on the pitch and no Mbappé, less than 24 hours after his double in Reims (2-0). Among the absentees was also Upamecano... and for good reason, the new Bayern Munich player was injured in the back of the thigh and his injury forced Deschamps to withdraw from the September internship in the evening, replacing him by Barcelona's Clément Lenglet, a regular at Clairefontaine
