Credit institutions (banks and microfinance structures) subject to declarations of overall effective rates (TEG) or to the cost of loans and the nomenclature of activities of Afristat member states (NAEMA) have undergone training on the regulations in force in CEMAC. Held in Brazzaville from August 3 to 6, 2021, this training was organized by the National Economic and Financial Committee of Congo (CNEF).

Credit institutions must now take into account in the declarations all the elements that must appear in their calculation. The training brought together more than a hundred participants, including some managers and representatives of the commercial and credit departments of banks and microfinance institutions. They were entitled to several communications. The training of the staff of credit institutions subject to loan cost declarations stems from the desire to create the conditions for the optimal development of credit markets. In October 2012, the CEMAC authorities adopted two texts of community regulations harmonizing and regulating the calculation of overall effective rates and the repression of usury in the sub-region. This objective should therefore go through the harmonization and consolidation of practices in order to contribute to the effective reduction of the real cost of credit. The TEG is an indicator of the real cost of the loan over the entire repayment period. But, six years after the entry into force of these texts, the board of directors of the BEAC had, during its session of December 18, 2018, recommended the revision of this regulatory framework with a view to consolidating the achievements. In Congo, in accordance with the plan decided by the National Credit Council, during its session of July 4, 2017, the implementation of this reform was to be done gradually.
