The experts of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will evolve Côte d'Ivoire, in 2022, within the framework of the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism (AML / CFT).

During the second extraordinary plenary session of its Technical Commission which is being held in a hybrid format, in person and by videoconference, from August 16 to 20, 2021, in Abidjan, the national correspondent of GIABA, Idrissa Touré informs that Côte d'Ivoire will be assessed in 2022 and preparations have been underway since last June. “We are thoroughly preparing for this exercise with IMF experts who will assess Côte d'Ivoire. We have already agreed on a timeline and technical compliance,” he said, adding that a completed questionnaire was sent on August 13, 2021. The next step is to complete the questionnaire on effectiveness and after the on-site visit to Côte d'Ivoire. This IMF mission aims to examine the instruments for combating money laundering. The AML/CFT mechanism is carried out with the Intergovernmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA), a specialized institution of ECOWAS, whose objective is to ensure the fight against money laundering of capital.
