About 100 e-wallets outside mainland China now support UnionPay. UnionPay International (UPI) on Monday announced its partnership with the International Bank of Tajikistan to launch the country's first contactless e-wallet.

This e-wallet will make UnionPay the first payment brand to offer contactless mobile payment services in the country. Therefore, the number of e-wallets supporting UnionPay cards outside mainland China reached 100. At the same time, the number of merchants accepting UnionPay mobile payments exceeded 10 million. These two milestones mark the formation of an interconnected UnionPay mobile payment ecosystem that crosses borders. As the first international card system specializing in switching and clearing mobile payments, UnionPay now offers a variety of wallet-related products such as UnionPay app, mobile QuickPass, and external QR code e-wallets. from mainland China. UnionPay standard e-wallets have been launched in more than 20 countries and regions, including Hong Kong, Macao, South Pacific and Southeast Asia. Almost ten new e-wallets were launched in the second quarter of this year alone. One in five transactions made with a card issued outside mainland China goes through mobile payment devices.
